Vaccination Question

I don't know much about vaccinations and would like some help because I feel my vet is telling me to get more vaccinations than necessary.
So when Jayda was at the humane society she had DA2PP vaccination on the below dates. I looked it up and it says that is the distemper shot:
6weeks 12/27/09
9weeks 1/15/10

I adopted her on 1/16/10 and have taken her to the vet twice for what shows up as "DAP Puppy Continuum" on the invoice:
12weeks 2/6/10
16weeks 3/4/10

They are recommending I take her back on March 25th to get another DAP Puppy Continuum shot. Although on the paper it says if they've had the shots up until 16 weeks the pup should be covered. I guess I would like to ask if this other shot is needed or just a way for them to make a few extra bucks off me? I have had some other issues with my money hungry vet, so I want to make sure this shot is needed otherwise I am canceling that in my next appointment. I am currently looking for another vet in my area as I am sick of putting in lots of money for little service on their part. (this has to do with other things besides the shots) Thanks for any help.

my old vet tried to pull this too with Chili...he had all four and they wanted to do a 5th since he was only 14weeks or so by his fourth one. I declined.

if your pup is 16 weeks, and had already had 4... I'd decline also.

Thanks and I will be declining. I just wanted to check first with others before I cancel a shot that may have been needed.

My understanding is they don't techinically need all four...they are just done as "just in case" since you can't tell exactly when the mothers antibodies from nursing leave the dogs system. So they do lots of frequent ones while they are in the transition from weaning to four months or so... If that makes sense

I see. Well Jayda and her siblings I believe were bottle fed by a lady that does rescue. She took care of them until they were adopted out at the humane society. I'm not sure if they ever had their moms milk or if their mom was even found when they got the puppies. They were found abandoned on the side of the road...

Oh my, if you said that before I must have missed it...

Chili was similar, weaned early...so he started getting his shots earlier..

in fact I asked about it a year ago on this forum and got a good answer...let me see if I can dig it up
