Something I need to work on...

I just realized I yell in panic LoL when Kimber picks something up he shouldn't like a shoe. I will yell Drop It and he drops it but I don't want to have to yell I want to just be able to say Drop It and a normal voice. Which is my fault not Kimbers LoL because when we are training I use a normal voice and he listens but when he picks up something he shouldn't have I yell loud out of a panic or something LoL I am not sure I am explaining that right. But I need to learn to stay calm and calmly say drop it when real life stuff comes up outside of training sessions.

i agree! it is sooo hard to train ourselves. I have soooo many bad habits when training I have no clue where one starts and another ends sometimes. worse, it is even harder to teach the one you live with how to train without getting into bad habits when he refuses to listen

Yeah, at least you are AWARE you are doing it. I see people screaming at their dogs for every little thing and they don't know it...so its great that you can see yourself correctly in this one situation, most people can't/wont do that.

omg...i catch myself doing stuff like this too. i'm trying not to use corrections at all, but you don't realize how many times you "eh eh" your dog in a day until you make yourself start to pay attention to it...one thing i started doing was just saying his name in a friendly voice before i said anything else...re-direct or whatever the solution is...but once you get into good habits and out of bad ones it gets easier and easier

I know, once you actually pay attention to all the time I correct her, I am like "do i REALLY do this, this much? does emmy constantly feel terrible cause i always correct her?"
