"Pit bulls and Children do not mix"

Ignorance is bliss..

"People own pit bulls to use as a weapon and if you’re part of the few that doesn’t own a pit bull to use a weapon, then know you’re amongst the majority of trash that does. Nobody thinks, “Gee, a pit bull would be a GREAT family dog.”
A pug is a great family dog, a pit bull is not.
In fact, why not just go out and get your family a bear or a tiger? And if you’re fortunate enough to live in an area where one of your neighbors owns one of these weapons of mass destruction, then do yourself a favor and move (your property value will quickly decline with pit bulls running around anyway) or get your village to sign an ordinance banning these animals.
Children deserve better. "

I'm tired of reading articles like this, especially when people trying to defend the APBT can't/don't use proper spelling...
I decided responding to the article/blog would be pointless, i don't think i'd be able to get through to them. I wish People would just leave the apbt alone.

I agree 100%
I get so angry when people try to say that Pitbulls are bad dogs.
Most of my family hate Pitbulls and think they are bad, mean dogs when they have NO idea how they are!
A Pitbull is a dog, a yorkie is a dog, the only difference in looks and size. But they are BOTH dogs. It is very unfair how people treat there breed because of what STUPID people have started. Pitbulls need just as much love as those little lap dogs!
It just isnt right how people think so badly of the Pitbull when most have never even owned one or even seen one in person!
It makes me so mad I want to cry..I hope one day the Pitbulls will show everyone how good of a breed THEY ARE!!! They deserve it after everything that has happened with there breed!

And the Pitbulls that have "issues" with aggression is because of the person, NOT the dog.
Instead of putting the Pitbull down, I think the person should be put down!
And that's the truth!

Pitbulls are the best!!!

Our son found a 6 month old Pit Bull that had been abandoned in a wash down from our house. This is where a lot of dogs get abandoned. They found her on valentine's day last year. So they named her valentine. Then the last part of last year he got another female that a friend of his found running on busy streets. They named her Ebony. She is white. She was 6 mos old. His girlfriend has a 2 yr old grandaughter that lives with them. Those 2 dogs are so good with that little girl. They play with her they protect her and watch over her. We tell them to go check on her when she is in her room playing and they will go in the little girl's room to see if she is ok. Then they come back in the other room and lay down. They were strays. We don't know what they went through before our son took them in. They aren't mean or vicious. They are both great watchdogs and great Nannies for the little girl. Pit Bulls used to be called Nanny dogs.If they were so bad with kids, why were they called Nanny Dogs? People that say such bad things about Pit Bull dogs, don't know anything about the breed.

I love Pitt Bull and all dogs for that matter. I just wanted to mention that no matter the breed you should never leave your children and dogs alone together. When I adopted Kelsey the lady that helped us told me to never leave dogs and children alone. She told me about a great family dog that was alone with a young child and attacked the child. They had the dog put to sleep and when they did they found a pen jammed down into his ear canal. Anyway I just wanted to mention that. I never leave the kids alone with the dogs. I think it is more that I don't trust the kids than the dogs LoL.

I was wondering how our grandparents ever survived to propagate without stupid people telling them what dogs to own. I was looking through genealogy....general, not just mine. All sorts of turn of the century photos....when cameras were just becoming available......all these familys with big pitts in front, tongue lolling....Remember Tige, how about Petey? Ok, now I am dating myself.

My family and I own 2 pit mixes, and they are the best family dogs ever. I let the eldest pit mix raise my other 2 dogs because of his gentle/fatherly nature, and it paid off. I know it's a big no no, but I don't even think twice about sending my 6 yr old out to play with them in the yard. They watch the perimeter for trouble, and I truly know none of them would ever harm her. They display no dog on dog aggression, or human directed aggression. The only problem I have out of them is that they love chasing cattle.

Want to ditto Brittany.

Also-if you (any of you) own a pittbul-like Crio said-its YOUR responsibility to change these stereotypes. Train your dog, do CGC, do whatever and get your WELL BEHAVED LOVING pittbul out in the public eye.

Adjeyca-have you thought about writing to your paper or doing media interviews with your dog? You seem to be very activisty-and you're preaching to the choir here Why don't you take this bigger and start chaning some minds

Funny how they are all grouped in with the few that are trained to be aggressive. There is a female pit that visits me on occasion. The first time I met her I was under my Jeep working on the driveshaft. She walked over and laid down next to me. I didn't even know she was there until I rolled over and grabbed a wrench. Scared the heck out of me, but she very aggressively slobbered all over my face. I will be scarred for life.

This aggression stigma also hovers over the heads, of rotties, dobies, German shepards, and ridges in this area. Most people are lead around by their noses and believe everything that the press shoves at them.
