As much as i don't like the look and structure of show line GSD I know that online petitions often don't get anything accomplished. This issue is a deep one with GSD. I wish you luck.

Ok I don't even know what this is about...what is wrong with German Shepherds when it comes to showing them?

nothing wrong with showing them...its the shape of the "show line" dogs vs. the working lines...

hold on I'll dig up a picture...

ack...most images are copyrighted....basically the show lines involve the topline of the dog curving down so the dog has to squat to walk and the back legs are shorter ( i think) vs a working dog that has a normal topline.

Basically som' show line dogs can barely walk, let alone do the task they were bred to do.

Hmmmm I guess I am still somewhat confused. So they want a petition to be passed to say they can no longer have the slanted backs in shows? My mother grew up with 2 sheph's with the sloping back... They never had issues so could it be bad breeding or even just over breeding of that trait? I thought it was the traditional look to GSD and thought the straigh back was from overbreeding LOL.

yes...I've seen show lines that literally can barely walk.

Youtube has a documentary called "pedigree dogs exposed" by the BBC...its long but it gives a good example of the "newer" GSD topline and the issues with it

wow thats real unfortunate that people do not care what they are doing to a dogs litter let alone an old trait to the dog breed. that was an amazing feature of the GSD as far as I am concerned. *shakes head*

Wow. I thought the German Shepherds with the sloping backs had the traditional look too.

Is this an example of a working line's back?
