that sounds really cool actually, a good situation for you and the dog, i hope that it works out... ditto the recommendation for classes... you may also want to invest in a belly band JIK he has some marking issues at your house (very big possibility for him to pee and /or mark in a new house, but if he is doing well in her house, it shouldn't take long for him to pick it up in yours )
also, ditto on the just chilling out, try to keep yourself calm and just let him do his thing, let him come to you

Good luck. I bet a pap would be a good fit for you. small, great companion dogs, but still have a ton of energy and are great active little guys.

I also 2nd (3rd, 4th? lol) the doggy classes. Not only will it help him become a great dog (not saying he isn't. But dogs taught by other people may be different then what YOU want) its a great bonding experience. I have no wants to actually excel in agility or rally-o. I don't want to compete./ But I put Blaze in these classes because they are fun, and makes our bond stronger. Plus he learns (and do I) a little something each time lol
