Breed guesses?

Forgive me if this isn't the right place to post this, but I'm looking for some input as to what my mutt might be.

At the rescue they speculated St. Bernard and Lab, but I'm not so sure.

He's 6 months old and weighs nearly 60 lbs.

His name is Finnegan, btw.

Ha! Hooper is NOT hugging the dog, despite how it may look. He's actually getting a good hold so he can chomp down on Finn's ear.

yay! guessing time! hi Paula and Finnegan

I am no expert so I am probably wrong, but the first breed that came to mind was basset hound because of the color on his face and for some reason I got the same reaction when I see them, makes me think they are sad and in need of a hug even if they are not! very adorable :3

mixed with something big and with pointy ears like, I dunno, a german sheppard?

PS. I have a big imagination

wow he is a big boy! At such a young age and such a big weight I would guess he has a very large breed mixed in there. This is a lab/st bernard mix I found by google. I would say that is a possible mix. The ears made me think possible Pit in there too. Kind of looks like a Pit mix that used to come in my work daily for daycare. Very cute!

I don't think he's any kind of terrier. I know I could be wrong. His nature is just too sweet to be any kind of dog with an extremely high prey drive. He LOVES my guinea pigs and is very gentle with them. And of course, you can see how patient he is with the cat.

The thing is, is that at his age he's already 60 lbs and growing every day, so I'd be surprised if he didn't have some kind of larger dog somewhere in the mix there.

An interesting thing about him is that he has both rear dew claws, both securely affixed to bone. Aren't there only certain breeds that have rear dew claws? I haven't gotten a clear answer to this question.

Whoa! Yeah, if that's a lab/st. bernard I'd say Finn could definitely be one too.

A lot of people think he's part pittie when they meet him, because of his nose marking, but I don't think that's likely.

Actually no, this is a myth. My dog has dew claws on both front and back feet and and is not a mix of the dogs with the rear dew claws. he has similar ears but nowhere near as big (he is 1 yr and ~40-45lbs).

Its hard to tell. My parents had a boxer/lab mix who people thought was pit (attached is a photo of him).
