Haha...thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, I meant 2010. doh! We are picking her up in 10 days. We are pretty excited about it. She will be exactly 8 weeks old when we get her. The picture you see there was taken about 4 days ago...so that is about as 'recent' as it gets.

We've decided on her last name too. Neela Flores.

My wife has always liked Vizslas and Weimaraners. I'd never seen one until about 2 years ago. We just so happened to walk into a bike shop where one of the employees brings in his Weimaraner. She was a beautiful dog and very well behaved. I immediately agreed that a Weimaraner is the type of dog I'd like to get.

I like the idea of a large dog so that when my wife goes running with the dog other people will be less likely to give my wife trouble. (but that's just the paranoid husband thing...)

We wanted a girl because we've always heard they are usually more docile and less likely to want to 'run the pack'. Also, they don't tend to be as large as males.

We are getting her from a breeder who lives in central Tennessee. Her father is a Int Ch. You can read about the breeder on her website - incredibullk9s.com.

I hope I've answered all your questions and can assure you they'll be plenty more to come.

I'll be sure to keep the pictures coming...

Well, I think you picked out a PERFECT breed for an active family. She will be one to keep up really well.

Wow she doesn't look like she could possibly be 6 weeks old in that photo... I was going to guess more like 2-3 weeks, but then again I've never seen a baby weim. That is great that your wife goes running, I'm sure Neela will love running with her. On the gender thing female dogs are great, but I have always been partial to males for some reason. Both genders are great in their own way. Anyways I can't wait to see more pictures!

You were absolutely right! It turns out I misunderstood how old she was and when we can take her home.

She was born February 9th and she is only 24 days old in that photo. So, we'll be bringing her home on the 26th.

Unfortunately that means we'll be picking her up a bit later than I thought.

Oh, that's disappointing...
It will be ok though, she is your little bundle of joy..you just have to wait a bit longer, that's all

It will give you more time to prepare too!

It turns out that it was a blessing in disguise. We have planned to do some spring cleaning before the puppy comes home. You can think of it as half puppy-proofing and half getting rid of the clutter (donating a bunch of stuff to Good Will - old clothes, etc). We had planned to have it all taken care of by this last weekend...we were WRONG.

So, due to my misunderstanding we get an extra weekend to finish. It's a good thing too because it'll be nice to have everything taken care of before the puppy gets here instead of trying to do it while training the puppy.
