Potty Training 8 mo. old

I am having a hard time getting my 8 mo. old cocker spainel mix to potty outside when I take her out (she won't go at all). She has wonderful bladder control, we go all night with out a accident. She has to go as soon as we wake up but she won't go when I bring her out. I keep her on the leash and bring her in the backyard, have treats and a lot of love ready but she wont go. When we come back in she will go right in front of me; I give a stern NO and carry her outside. Same thing any other time she has to go (won't go when on leash outside).

We are not using a crate. Between my wife and myself we watch her 24/7. She has gone potty outside just not with us there to praise her. Trying to use my older dog to help; she gets lots of praise and a treat when she goes outside. Thinking the puppy will want to copy her.

I know she will learn but looking for help to speed up the process.

Thank you

A crate will definetly help.

After she refuses to go...she would come inside (carry her if you have too) and then into her crate...then every ten min or so you can take her outside and hope she goes...when she does treats/praise the whole 9 yards.

I don't understand how you can be watching her "24/7" and in the next sentence say when she goes outside no one is there to praise her... teather her to you for now and when you can't have her teathered to you she should be in her crate...

good luck.

when inside she is always with us. We put outside with the older dog when she ask to go out. She likes outside in our yard and stays for awhile.

Right.

But in order to praise her for going outside you have to be there with her. I think you have already answered your own question for yourself.

Its my first time on this and I cant figure out how to start my own Question...

But I hope someone could help me anyway!
Me and my nearly 2 y.o mini poodle have just moved home.. At her old home, where she grew up, she had a doggie dog and an enclosed yard so she could go outside to do her business when ever she liked.. But now she can only get outside when we take her out, which is very regularly.. She is pooping inside a lot recently, it confuses us because we are inside too... She doesn't tell us she needs to go or anything...
I need to fix this problem soon as she keeps pooping in my house mate room!
She goes on lots of walks and plays out the back many times each day... And she get fed in the morning each day...
I give her lots of praise when she does go outside and say 'NO' in a low voice when she goes inside....
What should i do?

They don't know to tell you to go out. Thats a human trait that you have to train your dog to do. So don't expect her to tell you without training or getting really lucky.

I wouldn't say NO or scold her in any way...no matter how lightly. Its better to simply ignore mistakes and reward successes. Scolding can make the dog learn to go hide to poop, so simply go out of your sight to go.

Sounds like your dog just needs more supervision. Perhaps take her out every hour for now and get your floors/carpets professionally cleaned.
