Having Collar problems with my Husky

OK. So my Husky likes to try and lead me.
So i bought a prong collar.
but it doesn't help. And i really don't want to hurt him with this collar.
how can i get him to where he will walk beside me and not try choking himself on his leash.
he is 1yr and 2 months.

Well a husky think of this- its freezing- get up and pull something mentality..
How you train a huskie is this- give short targets - forget the prong collar and try this-
Take a simple martingale- put on the dogs- take 4 to 6 strides- as soon as the dog pulls, reverse direction 180 degrees without a work and head off in the other direction.. Dog comes then uh lets say pulls again- you reverse direction. I know it sounds stupid but keep doing it to retrain natural instinct to now watch you- and you got it..
No chains- simple nylon martingale..

You need to train him to keep the leash loose when you walk him which can take a while so in the meantime get a good no pull harness. Kelsey has the easy walk harness and it is great. But there different methods you can use for training. When he starts pulling in one direction you turn and go the other direction....you may have to do this for a while but eventually he will get it. Make sure when he isn't pulling you reward him so he knows that is what you want. You can also be a tree which means when he starts pulling you just stop and wait for him to loosen the leash. Depending on how bad about pulling he is you may have to do that in steps.

Hmm, I tried the harness on mine and it just kind of made it more comfortable for her to pull me. The only thing that worked on Lola was a nylon slip collar, so yeah I kind of choked her but in the long run it worked

if you use one just make sure that it stays up behind her ears. Some choke collars may damage their vocal chords, too.

is it a "no pull" harness or just a harness?

if you thread the leash under the dogs arm it helps even more

Was this the Easy Walk Harness? Kelsey used to pull my husband through Petsmart...Literally if he had dress shoes on he could not stop her he would just slide along behind her

Someone saw him and told him about the Easy Walk Harness and we put on her and bought. It was like walking a different dog. We didn't do any training just put that on her and she stopped pulling. It was great.

ALSO this is a wonderful new thing-it's like harness (A halti-which goes on the face works in much the same way but the dogs can rub them off, and do try) but does not allow them to use their weight to pull you along.

It's called a gentle leader-my parent's used it with their husky with really good success.

It clips in front-so when the dog pulls, it spins them-instant correction. Honestly I've seen them stop pulling in one walk.

That harness looks pretty sweet. I can't even remember what kind of harness we used on Lola, it was about 3 years ago but I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be some type of anti-pull harness.
