Congratulations on your choice of breed

Its never easy to lose a loved fur-friend

As far as food goes I can only recommend what I know ... My three get fed Skinners field and trial maintenance ... its £15 for a 15 kg sack
Please dont think just cos its cheap to buy its rubbish food , it was recommended to me by a highly respected Border Collie trainer/breeder as being great for BC's , and my three are thriving on it
Skinners Dog Food | Home

I buy it online and get it delivered ... if you buy two sacks together delivery is free from here
Pet Supplies | Pet Food, Products & Accessories | GJW Titmuss?

Two sacks last my three border collies around 2 months ... thats with them all having two large mugs a day of it

As for toys ... I gave mine old teddies that my Grandchildren had grown out of (just make sure that if the toys have glass eyes etc that you remove them before letting the pup have it) a good chew toy is essential , and if you can get a puppy Kong that will keep your pup entertained for ages
Also , a pup is never too young to be trained , clicker training is fun and easy to do , train in short sessions , 5 - 10 minutes each time , keep it fun

Are you going to crate train the pup ?

hey thanks for the tips mese! yes the border collie is one of my most fave breeds and have always wanted to have one straight from a pup!

Ill have a look at the skinners food, im guessing it'll have a puppy selection?

toys no problemm a lkong is a good idea i was looking at those today .

Would you reccomend crate training? what would i use the crate for? for nighttimes or something? aha we never had one for nipper but i dont remember what he was like as i was a lot younger then when he was a pup

Skinners do have a range of puppy food

Crate training for me was a godsend ... it meant that I could relax at night knowing the puppy was safe and so was my house , lol (Toffee was a chewer when he was a puppy)
I also used the crates if we went out and had to leave the dogs at home

I dont use the crates anymore now my lot are non chewers
