o, I don't know if the video/audio is funny on this one too, I couldn't tell, but be careful about clicking to late. You will reward him disengaging the object so you end up with a chain of "touch...pull away....touch...pull away." very very very hard IMO to add duration after they get into that habit. Better to jump the gun and click early if its a behavior that will need duration. Make sense?
| that was totally me and not the video... my timing was really bad... and i also missed some really good clicks too! i think i started getting caught up in trying to see what he would do and sorta forgot to be on the ball with clicking if that makes sense...i will work on it Quote: |
you would teach the behavior in reverse...starting with him lookin at the item. You would present the item and take it away after each rep. You would build on looks to touches, to rough touches, to mouthing, to holding, etc etc. Basically, each tiny step is very ingrained so the chances for the behavior to fall apart is very low.
| this is sorta what i was thinking for moving forward... doing some really short sessions and building until he is picking it up... starting with mouthing it, which he did a couple of times, and then to him mouthing the rope and so on...but i hadn't really broken it down into that many steps... (i click to slow and move to fast! ) i'll definitely focus on smaller steps next session, and try to be more "on it"
i'll probably be asking for more input...
thanks |

| LOL. I love the part where he sticks his head in and you click, and he sticks his head in further. He got it really well. I also love the "doggy thinking face". |

| ok... so an update... we are progressing quite nicely...imo... we have now gotten to the point where he is going straight for the handle and putting his mouth on it, i'd say 95-99% of the time! yay! that was tonight, and he is sooo keen on this game, i can hardly get him to stop playing seriously he gets all excited when he sees the bucket... it is really cute...
i have a vid from last night to upload, but i'm not sure how it turned out since we had some bloopers... and tonight, i forgot to record it! what a dork i am! anyway, i'm thinking that tomorrow's session we should have some actual lifting of the bucket, and i'll post video soon... |
