don't name it until you love it. Wait until hes doing it over and over with no cue and then when you can bet ten bucks hes about to do it...start to say your cue.

you can teach him not to do this, but in the meantime you don't have to hand them to him. Its ok to put them on the floor

Snickers doesn't lunge, but for dogs that do, my puppy instructor advised turning your hand sideways and making a shallow cup. This way your fingers don't get confused for a treat.

I stopped recomending it after I noticed many of her articles are no longer free.

I still sport her sites bumpersticker however :P
