Hi
We have a problem wiv our puppy. He's stuff and have been told he's cross wiv american bulldogHe is only 6 mnts old and We have had him since he was 5 weeks old.He lives wiv another dog a small pug and they are like best friends and sleep together and play together.Sometimes they may have a fight over food or over attention but otherwise they are fine. Our pug is really loving dog same as the stuff Rocky.I never had problems wiv the pug attacking other dogs.He loves playing and meeting wiv other dogs but Rocky when trying to introduce him to other dogs he becomes really vicious and tries to attack them, when other dogs are being friendly.Few times while walking Rocky he tried to attack other dogs the minute he sees them and trying to escape from his collar and acts really strange.... :ponder: We are not sure if he is scared and overprotective or something else.If you guys have any advice how to calm Rocky down and try to socialize him wiv other dogs would love to here from you.

Well this is sounding like a recipe for disaster. First off you need to stop the fighting at home. That 6 month old dog is going to get huge and capable of killing your pug no problem. What exactly do you do when you see your dog get aggressive like this?

This is super serious. I hope you are taking it that way. Your dog is young and of a manageable size right now but soon enough it's going to be able to over power you. Go get a great trainer RIGHT NOW!!!

You have a bully breed. While there may be something else going on, please bear in mind that bull breeds are prone to dog aggression and this is likely your dog demonstrating that.

Please remember that socialization does not entail throwing two dogs together to play. Socialization is exposing a dog to many different situations and teaching a dog how to behave around other dogs, people, etc.

My advice? Stop letting them play together. Crate and rotate if you have to. Start from scratch and work on focus cues and basic obedience. Moving forward, work with teaching your dog to remain focused on you amidst distractions while ON LEASH AND UNDER CONTROL. This should NOT involve meeting/greeting other dogs.

This is a great link: Pit Bull Rescue Central

My dog is a bull breed and as he's matured, he's become much less tolerant of strange dogs. However, we can work 2 feet away from another dog with him ignoring it completely. It doesn't mean he plays nice, it means he's been taught how to behave around other dogs without interacting with them. That's the goal when socializing a dog who doesn't play well with others.

5 weeks is quite early for a pup to leave his mother, as she can still teach him manners. Maybe that's where he missed out. Also you don't say what socialisation he's received since he came to you. Did you take him to puppy training classes? These can be wonderful if run by a really good, kind rewards trainer or even better, a behaviourist/trainer.

I think that you should get advice from a behaviourist now, find one here
The APBC | Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors.

Check out this sticky link http://www.dogforum.com/dog-behavior/reactivity-leash-aggression-barrier-frustration-12538/, it has great advice on how to help with on leash aggression.

It also sounds like there may be some resource guarding going on. Please stop feeding them around each other, as others have mentioned once Rocky is fully grown he will be able to seriously hurt or kill your pug. Here's the link for the sticky on resource guarding http://www.dogforum.com/dog-behavior/resource-guarding-causes-prevention-modification-7511/

With both of Rocky's problems don't expect a quick fix, with patience and work it will get better but it will take quite a bit of time. If you do hire a behaviorist to help you make sure they use positive reinforcement methods only, if they mention dominance, alpha rolls, hand bites, and other corrections, leave. All that type or training does is suppress the behavior and can cause the dog to get worse.

Please stop feeding them around each other
I have separated them while eating long time ago.Actually Rocky never attacked Teddy! Was the other way around and few times Rocky finish his food and went for Teddy's food but Teddy didn't like it and attack him.And also Rocky plays wiv Teddy but sometimes he can play bit rough and Teddy attack him and thats how the fight start ..... but other then this I believe Rocky loves the pug lots.
Thanks for the advice I will have a look at the link and also try to get a trainer ....
