These were mentioned in a recent thread asking for reviews. I'm interested in any experiences with them, so I started a new thread to give it some more visibility here. I'm especially interested in their thunderstorm sounds.

I currently use several of those dog toys that make varied noises whenever a dog even walks near them. I get many scared dogs here, with some reported as being very scared when any household noises occur. Every dog has quickly adjusted to these toys & has done much better when leaving for a foster or adopted home.

gerry, I would also love to know if it's worth the money. I have 5 BC's and all of them are thunder phobic to a greater or lesser degree. Something else I saw advertised on her website is the icalmdog. If I understand it correctly it's kinda like an ipod for dogs with calming music on that you can play to them during stuff like thunderstorms.

Stillwell also uses the classical music which studies have shown has the best overall calming effect. But I've never found or seen a case where they helped in thunderstorms. Her icalmdog appears aimed more at trips to groomers, clinics and such where you're looking at general calming, and not specific desensitization.

I'd question if that small player would give you either the fidelity or control needed to handle thunderstorm issues. Just imagine the dog getting upset because you're advancing too quickly, and to change that you need to run after a scared dog to grab his collar in order to change it.

Oh my! I sit for three dogs that use my head (yes, they crawl up and lay on my head during storms) and would love to try it on them...but I don't want to freak them out while they are here, maybe I can give it to the owners to use and report back to me.

Why is it that if they are scared of thunder, they want to climb up on your head even if you are lying down? Kiska has become afraid of thunder and we have been having a lot lately after our 30+ degree weather. The thunder was loud enough to shake the house so cannot blame her.
