Hi everyone, this is my first post here, im sorry if this has already been covered but im a little stressed and looking for some help.

I have a rottweiler who is about 6 years old, he is a rescue, he was very nervous when i got him about 4 years ago, he has come along way since then, he is less nervous now, and alot calmer.
So yesterday we brought home our first baby, the night before bringing him home i brought home a baby blanket from the hospital so he could learn the smell. the inital meeting went fine, he was very curious about the new little baby, all in all everything is fine, except that i find the dog is a little stressed, when we move with baby he follows us, if baby makes a sound he jumps up to investigate, but the worst is when he cries, the dog gets excited/stressed/anxios/nervous, im not really sure what it is, he wants to get close to the baby, he creis a bit, he follows wherever i go with the baby, he tries to jump on the couch of bed, where ever the baby is. Ive been doing research on this and have found that i should give him lots of excercise, which i already do, usually at least an hours walk a day, plus some play time, ive also read to distract him with high value rewards, but if i give him a reward am i not rewarding the behavior i dont want, shouldnt i make him sit or lie down calmly for the treat.

any and all advice is welcome, thanks in advance for your help.

Hang in there. The best thing to do is to keep a very close watch on the two of them when they are together, and that goes for every dog and every baby or young child. He will probably calm down as things calm down with the baby as well.

I had a nervous-type dog while my kids were young. He never did anything to them, but he had that nervous streak. I used a lot of gates when I couldn't be watching them with 100% attention.

Congrats on your new baby :)
