Dog Pooping in her Water Bowl..

So my little one, Lilly, has started to poop in her water bowl for some reason. Its happened two days in a row now. I ran the bowl through the dishwasher before giving it to her today and she pooped in it again. She is still pottying outside like a good puppy too she seems to only do this while I'm at work. The girls are kenneled while I'm at work but there is no poop around her kennel or outside of it, just in her bowl of water

Ideas?

Fascinating! Perhaps you can elevate her water bowl so it cannot be a target.

Interestingly, our Josey carefully places his poop piles too, like a raccoon, often on top of a pile of leaves, a small bush, a rock or stump. Never seen a dog so obviously display/mark with his poop. Wonder if your dog is doing a bit of this too for some reason?

Her bowl is already raised up a bit (its in a wire little ring or else she'll flip it with her nose) but I can try to raise it up higher I suppose.

I feel so bad! When she gets home and I let her out of the kennel, she runs into Dexi's kennel for some water to drink. Least shes not drinking the poop water.

Didn't you move recently? If so that could def. be the reason. She might feel a little insecure at the new place and wants to add her scent to the environment to make it feel a little more familiar. Just a thought.

Maybe she is pooing in the water bowl so she doesn't have to lay in her poop? Maybe change feeding/potty break schedule so she poops before she is kenneled.

Moved about 4 months ago and she has her blanket in the kennel with her..

She gets to go potty before bed (6:30 ish pm), when we wake up in the morning/before I leave to work(4am), then potty when I get home(2pm). She also gets a walk after being fed at 2:10pm. Usually about an hour walk or so and has oppertinity to potty more if she needs to.

Feeding wise she gets fed in her kennel after potty break before I leave for work (4:20am), then fed again when I get home from after potty break (2:10ish pm). I give her a smaller breakfast and a larger dinner. She poops at the 2pm and 8pm potty breaks usually but not at the 4 am one. I've tried to give her extra time to see if she has poop in her butt but shell run to the door wanting to go inside after she pees.

It might be caused of behavioral issues. Have your dog behaviorally trained through dog training centers such as dog behavior modification bedford nh. They can be trained to poop straight to toilet and use flush lever.

I don't see what you're complaining about. Just put a stool next to the toilet, and bingo!

Raised water-bowls would probably work for a shorter dog, and barring that you can also simply provide her with a rabbit water-lick / stand type of deal.
