9 week old puppy... How much should he know?

My basset hound Fishlegs (or Buddy) is 9 weeks old and I'm wondering how far along in his training he should be, just in general. He is doing pretty well with his house training and rarely has accidents. He doesn't whine very much and not at all in his crate unless he has to go. He can sit although not with the audible command, just with the hand gesture. Is there anything else he should know or we should be starting on at this point?

I think you're right on track!
At 9 weeks your puppy is still very young and has a very short attention span.
I would continue on with what you are doing and also start working on some of the other basics.
Perhaps down, touch, and look/watch me?
Oh! And definitely Loose Leash Walking!

Yeah he gets very easily distracted, but that is understandable. I've never taught down, so I'm excited to do that one, but I heard sit should be mastered before trying down.
He walks pretty well on a leash except when we get close to home. That's where he will begin to pull. Usually I tell him "go home" and that is when he gets excited and starts to run.

Your dog does not have to master one trick before building on it. Just make sure he knows it well. If he ever seems confused in training, do something called regressing. Go back a step.

Down is a pretty easy command to teach. Just make sure

Another tip, practice! It takes about 100 repitions for an average dog to learn a trick.

I had the same question about training too. my pup is about 3 1.2 months but i feel he knows a lot! His recall can use a little work (its my whistle) but other than that he sits, stays (still learning that), knows "drop it", and knows "come". If he is off his leash he rarely wanders off, if he is distracted i either use recall or come and he comes (usually).

My question is, when do you start decreasing his treat rewards when doing training?
