that can withstand the outside environment, easy to clean, and cheap? There is currently snow in my area and I want to get toys that can last for a long time.

Kongs are pretty good. Also, they make other toys out of the kong material that are pretty good as well.

At walmart (or at least ours) they sell dogzilla rubber dog toys. I've never had any personally, but they look pretty durable and easy to clean.

Tennis balls are pretty good too depending what kind you get. One kind I had (I got them at walmart, they were really strong and bright yellow, and I found them in the pet section, but for the life of me I can't remember the brand) we played with constantly and then it got lost in the mud after a good rain. I found it about a week later and washed it off and it looked brand new and still in great condition.

Toys made of a vinyl like material usually clean easy.

I have one toy that I absolutely love, I got it at sams club (came in a pack of three), called ballistics dog toys are something like that. It's made out of ballistic nylon and it's stuffed, squeaks, has a "tail" for throwing and tugging it. Can't find the name of it anywhere on the toy, but its really great. We've done stuff with this toy I'd never dream of doing with others. Between tug, fetch, and just about everything you could do with it its still holding up good. A little wear on the "tail" but that's about all. Plus it cleans pretty easy!

Depending on your dog's habits/technique any toy could be a good toy though. For example, Tasha doesn't shred her toys so all I have to look for is a toy that cleans easy. My dad's pup shreds her toys to pieces, he has to get some really tough toys or else they'll last 15 minutes tops.

A 1 foot piece of regular water hose makes a splendid toy, balls on string, tugs etc are all good and pretty robust.

hi

Everyone has old socks lying around the house, or socks with holes in them that one never gets around to darning. Take two of them and tie them in a thick knot. The best kind are wool socks. The dog will love playing tug-of-war with the knotted socks. They can also be thrown and fetched. The dog will enjoy snuggling with them while it gnaws on the material....

^^^ I do not agree with this for several reasons. First one being a dog can eat the socks and then require surgery to remove the sock or part of it. Second it teaches dog that they are allowed to play and/or eat our clothing.......much better and safer toys available imo.

^^^^ I think it really depends on the dog for this one!

I have sock toys for my dogs and they are some of their favorites! I just gave them a new one yeasterday. 3 of my dogs played tug together, off and on all day. The socks are still intact and no one ate them.

In fact, they have never eaten a sock, nor have they ever eaten/torn apart purchased toys. They also do not eat my clothing or shoes. They know where their toys are (in their baskets) and I have no problems with them chewing on things they shouldn't.
Pearl will pull socks out of my laundry basket and play with them. But she does the same with underwear, tissues, and toilet paper! She just loves anything she can toss around the room.

However, if your dog tears apart stuffed toys and/or tries to eat parts of his toys, then I totally agree! Socks would not be a good idea for that kind of dog.

I have 2 favourites:

1. some roap with knots tied in it. I find it perfect to play a little bit of tug-of-war and it is still something that can be chewed on.

2. a chuck it ball thrower. I live getting outside with Fred and he loves to chase the ball but I hate getting slobber all over my hands so this makes it easy to deal with.

Not sure how either of these would go in the snow though.

My dogs like wubba's and jolly balls for outdoor play. Those "tiger tested" toys hold up well, but they get pretty dirty....
