lol... there is a thread on here with suggestions, and the kong site has some also, but i'll start... peanut butter is good, you can soak kibble in water until it is fully expanded then mush it up and shove it in, cream cheese...canned dog food, cooked eggs (tho i've tried the suggestion of cooking the egg inside and only really succeded in making a mess so far...) cooked/canned pumpkin... cookies...
and you can mix stuff in... and you can freeze them to make it harder/take longer to get the stuff out...this is great for teething puppies... now...lemme see if i can find that thread...

That was helpful! Thanks
I gotta go get him a kong in the next few days.

my list still is:

-collar
-food
-treats
-Kong
-Kong filling
-food dish
-water dish
-food and water dish mat

Then I think I will be done!

Do you think I need a bed? I have 2 soft thick big blankets folded up in his kennel(one of those big metal ones) and I was going to leave the door open for him so he can go lay down whenever he wants..Will that be ok instead of a bed?

that will work... i have a bed for my dog in one room and the kennel in the other... i use the bed often as his "place" when i don't want him underfoot, and the kennel of course, to crate him when i'm not home... it is best to get him used to the kennel asap tho... one thing to start with is feeding him inside...you want him to have positive associations in there...
anyway, my dog will shred any fabrics that i put in his kennel (crate training has been quite a challenge for us...but we are getting there) so i just use old blankets....

you should browse around some of the old posts on here and see if you have any questions... it will give you a good idea of things to expect when you get him... excuse my assumption, but this is your first dog? anyway... with a pup, you want to be focused on socialization, housetraining, crate training, and introducing him to things that may be difficult when he gets older, like grooming and vet visits, you also want to start working on teaching him to be patient and calm... we have lots of threads that will get you started on these things already....
i would also suggest a good book if you haven't already got one... i like "the power of positive dog training" by patricia miller but there is a thread on here with some good book recommendations....i'll find it for you
you may want to look around for a "puppy class" in your area.... as well as some training classes, dog park, boarding kennels, doggie day care facilities, dog groomers, and of course a vet... those are all good places to be familiar with so that when you need them you know where they are and if you'd feel safe leaving your dog with them...
