I like to give them something of each "type." that is, soft, hard, rope, squeaky, ball, etc and when I know what they like I get more of it

Heheh Can I make you a total shopping list-not just toys?

Puppy food

Two bowls-one for water. Ensure they are non-tipping-either really heavy or styled with a wide base.

leash

collar

harness

nail clippers

soft brush

kennel for crate training and trips to the vet

doggy bed-especially if you aren't going to allow them sleeping in your bed.

Dog tag-you can usually get these custom made on a machine in a petstore-include your address, phone number and any other info you want. Don't forget this-it's very imporant

Toys: Kongs are wonderful, puppy teething toys like these
in fact many baby toys are totally appropriate-they are made with safe material, and no small parts to swallow
Also freezing a wet old towel is great-cold and crunchy and nice on teething puppies gums. Tennis balls, tug toys and soft plush toys are good too.
NEVER leave your pup with toys unsupervised-they can swallow peices easily and their little systems are not set up for that I mean neither are adult dogs-but it's going to be worse with a pup

File folder-to keep all your immunization records, puppy class papers and the like

Valentine's new toys! pics

I went out today and got Valentine toys, puppy pads, and a crate.
I have some more to get still but that's all I could get today.

Here is a pic of the toys I got him:

Toys are:

1: Hard cloth tube shaped squeaky chicken toy (made by Hartz)
2: 3 pack of flavored puppy teething bones (Nylabone)
3: Tennis ball
4: Soft red rubber bone shaped flat chewing toy with small rope tied to it
5: Long soft blue and white rope
6: Medium Nylabone with hard rubber center
7: Small blue, black and white rope
8: Hard rubber tier with ropes on each end
9: Very soft rubber squeaky blue mailbox toy
10: Soft cloth "letter" pillow with squeaky
11: Soft stuffed baby blue puppy with squeaky

Am I missing anything?

Looks awesome-I will tell you to watch that blue bone closely-Mikey had some not so pleasant feeling poopies after one of those-just ensure he's not eating it (well ensure all toys are not being injested-esp. the bone lol)

lol...yes you are being excited, but it is good! he will need more...eventually... again, i recommend a kong type toy and a treat dispensing toy... other then that it looks like you've covered everything...don't be surprised if he doesn't like them all right off... that part will most likely change as he gets older, and he'll like them all more if they have food in them or on them or if you are playing with them with him...but by all means, if you feel like doing some doggie shopping...get more...it's fun!
