interactive toys

So today I bought Strider the Tug-A-Jug. I've been eye-ing it at Target for a while now. I know he isn't going to get it at first.. but the fact that he's curious gives me hope he'll figure it out eventually. He immediately began sniffing and pawing at it which unfortunately I didn't tape. And he did nip at it's handle a couple times as well. I wanted to share with you a video I took with my phone of him X3 YouTube - Strider's new toy

Do you guys have any luck with the dog puzzles?

I got tegan the tug-a-jug and he doesn't get it.... lol

But he's got a kong I fill with frozen plain yogurt and mashed up lo-cal treats and he is loving that... not so much the toy, just the food, but still haha keeps his brain working a little...

yeah.. Strider still hasn't gotten it quite yet either. Maybe they ought to like tell what the difficulty level is for the dogs. In the demo video of the toy, they owner mentioned that the dogs have learned previous toys before it and so was able to figure it out because of that. Perhaps this isn't really a beginner toy as I thought?

The kong seemed interesting. perhaps I'll go after that later.

Roxy gets all of her meals in a tug-a-jug. She seems to really love it. It took her a little while to figure it out, but she is a pro at it now. She is super food motivated so she really worked at it.

Keep encouraging Strider! If he doesn't seem to get it you could try putting some kibble in an empty water bottle and leave the lid off. It will be easier for him to get the food out because it doesn't have the rope. Then when he gets pretty good at that, you could give him the tug-a-jug instead.

yeah...the more they do it, the easier it is for them to figure out... and the more they like it... clover will go for lots of toys like that now, and he figures them out quickly but i definitely had to start easy with him... small pieces that fall out easily will help also...
