Another truck driver I know has a lung whip that is used for horses and she ties toys to the end of it and her dogs loved it and it wears them out playing with it.

that sounds like a flirt pole... pretty cool idea to use the whip! i just made one for my dog but he is pretty heavy so i'm nervous he will break the pole part... anyway, thanks for the idea!

Having dogs from 4# to 100# we tend to 'recycle' daily. Paper towel tubes....easy way to get the mob out of the kitchen. Same thing with an odd shaped cardboard box....always check for staples and heavy gluing first. And, of course, this requires sweeping later but with all the beasties we have to sweep daily anyway.

We learned when the Bullmastiffs were young that it was worth it to get some tired pups. BMFs enjoyed the gallon jug tug toys. And any Border Collies we have had were intense chewers, so we let them destroy things that wouldn't break teeth.. ....Old phone books are great for a couple hours. Shut a couple treats in a box and let them destroy.

Bike tires/innertubes are great outside tug toys. I used to cut off the valve stems.
