Dog Chews Through Toys.

Ok, so my sister's Golden Retriever, Angel, loves toys, but she chews through all the toys and I can't give my boy Harley any toys because she will take them and chew through them. She has even chewed through the big thick Kong toys. I feel bad because, because of her Harley can't have any toys, and he LOVES toys. Well, my question was, is there ANY toys that Angel absolutely CANNOT chew thru?

Other than a cube of super-dense steel, I don't think there's a material out there that a dog can't chew through, if he's determined enough...

My two also LOVE toys...apparently, they LOVE the added fiber and colored dog-mines in the back-yard. That's how I can tell which one of them ate the latest toy...firehose toys, kongs, super-kongs...to the point where they don't get a toy unless I'm actively engaging them in a game with it...

Thats how Angel is but the only game she likes to play is tug-of-war haha
She doesn't fetch like Harley does, we try to teach her but she just does not like to drop the ball, she will come up to me or my sister and she wants to play tug-of-war with the tennis ball!!

I cant give Harley a toy without giving Angel a toy, and I cant give her a toy without her chewing it up and me fearing that once she shreds it up her eating the plastic, cotton, or whatever.

Maybe you could teach Angel to trade the tennis ball for a piece of her kibble? That can make a believer out of a dog in a hurry! Once she gets to you carrying the ball, offer her the kibble. She'll have to drop the ball to pick up the kibble, then you can throw the ball for her again. She may get the idea that the whole routine is double fun.
If you have several toys going at once, you may be able to juggle both dogs into an active game. Then when play time is over, make one last trade of kibble for toy, and put them away until next time.
Worth a try anyway!

go to a store like home depot and buy 3 or 4 ft. of natural rope and tie knots in it every few inches its great for tug of war between dogs it is very hard for them to destroy it. Very inexpensive and fun to chew on. My guys are toy destroyers also.

you can also try the double ball method, when she brings ball a back, throw ball b, most dogs will drop ball a to fetch ball b..

have you tried the black kongs? the extreme ones? oh, and like tonka said, it isn't so bad for there to be toys that are only for supervised play/play with a human...

if you are going to play tug with her, it is important that you train her to release the toy...

i would also recommend a flirt pole

Oh. My. Dog. THAT's a flirt pole? I'm getting one. I've heard the term, never seen it. My dogs would go NUTS!!! This could ALSO (ALSO!!!) help to work prey-drive and build cues for chase / not chase, no? Gotta put my thinker to work for this one. Wow. The possibilities are...endless!

they are! it took me a while to figure out what to tie on the end of clover's, just got one of these:

it looks a little morbid lol, but clover goes NUTS for it now! i have mine on a wooden flagpole that i cut in half, it is only about 2 ft long, so that we can play in the house during bad weather...

oooh! I've never heard of a flirt pole but I like the idea! My dog's the same way, he'll chew through anything! At the moment there's soccer ball bits all over the floor 'cause he somehow got ahold of one while I was in the kitchen. Yikes!

Definitely gonna try a flirt pole though.
