I think I said it best in one of these threads...must have had a flash moment of wisdom or something...

"they're great dogs. Couldn't ask for more, wouldn't ask for different..."

This puts things in perspective for me...these dogs have REALLY changed my life. There's no way to put it into words, really.

I spent some time last night reading through the 'Memorials' threads, and it wasn't easy. I had to ask myself the question - damn. I'm broken up about these people and their stories about themselves and their dogs - neither of which do I actually know. What world of hurt have I gotten myself into 10-15 years down the line? Why do we do this to ourselves? I don't think it's an easy question to answer...to sum up the value that our doggy friends bring to the table.

It made me appreciate them even more. Chloe fell asleep on her back with her head in the crook of my armpit, dreaming about chasing rabbits or something, and Tonka fell asleep with his head on the pillow next to mine...it was peaceful, fulfilling. I was content.

i try not to think about that... tho i know it is inevitable... for me, i try to think about how i made their quality of life, working to give them a good one gives me so much... i know that when that time comes, my world will likely crumble to pieces, i only hope i can pick myself up to do it all over again.... cuz yeah, it is worth it...
