Dang! Pit bulls are big lol

Well I went to Petco today and this guy had a pit bull looking at the toys. He looked like a friendly little guy lol. Anyways in the line for the cashier they were right in front of me. And I started examinig the pit bull. First the head..big head haha. And then the pit bull saw me and in a playful matter tried to stand on his hind legs and jump on me. I got scared and jumped out of the way lol . Not that im scared of pit bulls (or other dogs for that matter haha) but I'd never seen a grown pit bull (I have only seen puppies) and wow he was big lol

Well this could have been one of 3 things....1. It was not a American pit bull terrier but an American bully which tend to be much larger and thicker. 2 it was a pit bull but way out of standard (a male pit bull should average about 40-50lbs) 3. It was a pit bull mix

All in all what I'm saying is really American Pit Bull Terriers are NOT big dogs at all

Yup, you saw an american bully most likey. They are really friendly dogs (as are APBT) they are usually mixed with english bulldog or mastiff. P&P is right, Pits are suppost to be in the 40-50lbish range. My girl is 42lbs and has a small head

was he blue by any chance? (a blue/grey color?)

yes i agree with the above posters.
I live in American Bulldogs, and i have an argentine dogo/American bulldog, and people alway's mix them up as Pitbull's.

Yep! very likely a bully most people don't like the look of them. I think they look OK if they aren't over the top.

Just thought this would be interesting for this thread. :] What you saw may not have been a pit bull at all, as many breeds are easily mistaken for pit bulls and are larger. American Pit Bull Terriers really aren't large dogs. They're classified as medium-sized dogs.

Don't cheat! Try to find the pit bull and then look at the answers. ;]

Wow, I failed miserably too. I picked number 13 or 15 as the pit bull.

I know what you're saying about big dogs though. I used to want a Rottweiler really bad until we took Amber to obedience classes and there was one that was only 8 months old and he was huge. I'm not afraid of them but just the size is a bit intimidating.

Haha, see what I mean about many, many dogs being easily confused for Pit Bulls? :P
