These mals that have had this training are the most intense dogs on the planet...I don't know you well (yet) so I wont say you can't handle one...but they are tooo much for pretty much anyone whos not a professional dog handler. Thats why I suggested YOU train the dogs, because essentially, you need to become a pro with your dog.

Im sure it varies state to state, but here, if my dog bites som'one, even a burglar...I can be sued and I'd be fighting to keep my dog alive.

also a note on the "beware of dog" signs....there have been som' cases where the owner became liable BECAUSE of the signs...its like an admission your dog is dangerous....when I found this out I took mine down...if you want to advertise you have a dog...they make "dog on premisis" signs that get your point across without insinuating any danger.

For the record people are TERRIFIED of my smiling, butt wagging 45lb pit bull...any dog is a deterant...and if som'one really really wants to get at you...the best trained dog wont stop them. There is a discussion on another forum right now and basically everyone agrees...in a fight the human will win over the dog.

That is how it is here too...I read that in the US only like 13 or 18 states have a law where the first bite is excused if the dog has never shown aggression before, other states do not accept this excuse and it stressed that if your dog is known to possibly bite then its a bigger issue. Of course SOME juries tend to understand and side with the owner of the biting dog but I would never rely on a jury full of regular uneducated citizens

A dog that has been ring trained, schutzhund trained or even just basic protection trained needs to train regularly, as does the handler.

If you are serious about importing a dog there are kennels that specialize in that. However, they probably aren't going to be selling their best dogs. And you can bet you are going to pay big bucks for it.

Look for a local ring sport or schutzhund club, someone can point you in the right direction. Ask for references from happy clients.

I'm a girl, and a small one at that, and I liked being able to take him with me to places I wouldn't normally go to... and feel safe.
I totally get you on this. I'm 17 and walk our streets alone a lot of the time, but I never go without my puppy. She's 6 months but already 50+ lb. Just the size is enough to keep most people away. And if her size doesn't I taught her speak, which coming from a t-rex sounds pretty scary, lol.

This is true.

Oh, and an interesting thing I read: apparently big black dogs are more intimidating then most any other color.

I agree...I feel much safer with my Black Lab, Kelsey than I do with my Boxer/Pitt Kimber LoL. I feel REALLY safe when I have one on each side

I think if any one were ever brave enough to try something with one of them around they would probably lick them to death, but they are big dogs and hopefully no one would ever try LoL.

I dont know about were you are but here, if you broke into my house and my dobe bit you, Im liable. My fault.

A fully trained Sch or IPO dog will cpst $20k and up.

Im not sure about Germany but be aware that alot of forgien (sp?) countries do different health testing, or less health testing that we do. Thing are just different in some parts of Europe.

My beagle from the Phillipines, doesnt have alot of testing in parts of her pedigree because she's from the Phillipines, and thats just the way things are there. The dogs in her pedigree from Aus are tested though. Just something to keep in mind. Hips are something they should be doing with Mals regardless.
