Let's Talk Agility !

Hi everyone !

Let's Talk Agility !
I am thinking of starting Agility with Beuford, i know he will do pretty good, he listens really well to me, to me he will do absolutely perfect, and boy can he run ! Lol
Who else does agility ?
I have the room to practice it and i am thinking of taking up some obedience classed and agility classed with him.
He is rather big lol...but i don't think it will get in his way.
Anyone want to recommend me some books ? i found a really great one at the petstore i will probably be getting.

Anyway's Talk agility and share pictures

AHHH I love this!! Great thread! We started with an intro course and have built some equipment for Mikey. He loves learning and loves playing on playground equipment (though it's illegal here to take your dog in a playground-we do anyways lol-I know I'm bad but it's not a big fine and we don't leave dog poop anywhere and he loves the playground ) I've always had dogs who were scared of moving things-not Mikey-he's on our chair swing and has no trouble, slides are fun, the moving bridge at the playground.

There is an agility group here I'm thinking of joining -just for fun-they have the equipment-and people who compete to help and welcome noobs. I think he'll love it

We built a jump and a teeter (can't remember the official name) and we have the stuff to build the weave polls-also have a lazy boyfriend who hasn't built that yet lol

I'm also doing agility with a couple of my bunnies-there seriously is two new sports for rabbits, rabbit agility and rabbit show jumping-one echo's dog agility and one echo's horse show jumping.

I think it's just fun for us-not serious about competing-I've always hated competitions but what a fun way to exercise your pet and train them

We started agility training classes this week. Wow, so much fun...we are so out of shape. By "we" I mean us fat humans. We have already exposed Chloe (20mo eskie) & Skyler (7mo mini aussie) to agility equipment & they have a play time on some equpment once a week. When we got to to class last night Skyler was allllll about getting out there to try it all out. When we did each exercise both dogs did fantastic! They were so cute. The training is in HUGE barn/arena that has a very thick layer of sand for the ground, its nice and soft for the dogs but a b*tch for us fat humans to run on! Skyler will not be doing any actual jumps when we get to that point because he is under a year old but he can start with body awareness, the walk over poles (in preparation for jumps) as well as the other equipment. I'm excited about this class, as first I was a bit nervous as to how they would do but they did seem to love it.

Sound's like fun !
Mikey may i ask, how you build the teeter ? I would like to build one ! Sounds like great fun !
It seems i have an interested of anything that is including jumping or of the sort ( i have a horse, and plan on SJ with him etc) Anyways !

I would like to give competition a try one day, but for now i will stick to the all around fun of it, i want Beuford to make alot of doggie friends lol and it would be good to get him more socialized considering he LOVES to play, i swear that dog lives for exercise

And Luv2byte Sounds like you're dog/pup had alot of fun I'm going to be very nervous also, and the barn sound's like a good idea i have never really thought of it. but hopefully if i can get an indoor arena or something we will give it a try definitally.

we just (we being Dave ) took a long plank put cross boards on it for traction-and a block underneath so it teeters I'll grab a pic -hang on

hahah I know until I got my new camera for xmas (equipment has been snowed in for a while now) last fall all I had was my mom's old cam, as Mikey chewed up my camera (little butt) so it's just a video of him jumping
