I see what you are saying. I have no worries of him biting and that is something they say they watch for in the intro classes. Our intent for this is to give Harvick a job, he needs to work, I understand that the stock are the important aspect but I wont lie when I say this is all about my dog and helping him be happy in life by working, while keeping the sheep safe of course. I do understand too that working takes discipline I am excited to get him out there. Thanks for all the input as it will help my mindset while out in the field!

Cara isn't currently in herding because she's not quite old enough. But we have a trainer lined up and at 9 months she'll start stock work training. Both of her parents were working cattle dogs, they didn't just trial they worked the cattle day in and day out.
