I do, but without a dog. Its awesome! I get to handle other people's dogs (it's hard for one person to handle 10 dogs and then there is need for a box loader).

I don't see how it's expensive though.

I was quoted $2000 + in costs a year to be on a team. Expensive IMO

*Jaw drops* OMG!?!?! 2000$ is a TAD pricey for a dog sport

Our friend is registering his dog in it soon-he's got a beautiful sheltie/japenese spitz who's super agile and obediant-I'm sure they are going to love it

that includes travel expenses. Som'thing most people overlook. If you are on a team you are expected to travel for competitions...som'times out of state...of course I checked this years ago when there were ONLY teams in my area, you couldn't do it for fun....

now I think there are a few fun matches available.

Well what if your dog is not cut out as an A team dog? That rediculous. Start your own team. You would have to buy equipment, and schedule practices, but that way you know the $2000 is being used.
Oh, and the team I'm with, they have practices for $5 per dog, and sometimes only one dog shows up (you dont have to come to every practice). Meanwhile the team "captain" pays $50 to rent the facilities. And everyone pays their own travel exspenses. Oh, except that she picks me up and drops me off for practices since I dont drive yet.

I would check out NAFA and see if there are some other teams near you. It is really fun!

I do flyball at two different clubs - Awesome Pawsome and Redlands DOC, the cost is nowhere near $ 2000 including travelling. At both clubs it costs $5 each training night, $ 15 for a competition. Plenty of competitions within Brisbane.
Its huge fun, been doing it for years. Just started a club at Redlands Dog Obedience www.redlandsdoc.com on thursday nights.
