First agility trial of 2010

We went to our first trial last weekend and it had it's up and downs. Since the trial was in the same city as Petie's (my dog) chiropractor, I booked an appointment for him on Thursday because I thought he was sore from slamming into a door jam. She did a wellness adjustment on him but thought he had a UTI (she is also a Vet), unfortunately I had pee'd him on the way into the clinic. She gave the ok for him to compete as long as he wanted to run, but when I got home to take him to our regular Vet on Monday.
The agility trial started on Friday I ran him in a couple of classes and he picked up another Masters Steeplechase Q and a 1st and our other 2 classes were Master Gamblers, which we almost Q in one, but both were a bust. I scratched him from the rest of our classes. Went back to the hotel and called the clinic, they were kind enough to squeeze us in. A urine sample later showed that Petie did have a UTI, we started him on antibiotics and the same advice applied for competing on Saturday......if he wanted to.

Saturday it was mid day before our first class and I think that gave the meds a chance to start working. Petie was feeling much better and we ran clean and fast in Steeplechase and Masters Jumpers for 2 more Q's and 1st. But I scratched him from the rest of our classes, I didn't want to push it and I knew he would try and try hard for me and he doesn't deserve that.

We were not entered on Sunday so we were home Saturday night. At which time I realized that we had earned another Title, Expert Masters Jumpers. We'll have to pick up our Titling rossette another time.

Oh yeah and there was a snow storm for most of the weekend.........lovely and the $153.00 Vet bill was a nice surprise lol.

Petie is now fine although he is still on the antibiotics and I'll take him to our regular Vet week to ensure that all is well with him.

Hopefully our next trial will be at the end of the month.
