wouldn't it be hard to see a collar on a huskies neck? Yikes.

I have been lucky. Critter only got out once and was returned very quickly.

Not sure about the bigger cities. But in the bush area yes. Many of the dogs here are all alaskan husky or alaskan husky mixes. (Non are alaskan malamute mixes or siberian husky mixes.)

Now, as we get more and more people, there are more alaskan husky mixes, some with german shepherds or rotties or both in them. Most have lab or golden retriever mixes in them. Not many pure bred huskies or malamutes. Most of the alaskan huskies here have the short double coat. Not the beautiful thick double coat of the sibies or malats. (siberian or malamutes.)

I live in ghetto-ville and there are so many people around my area who walk their dogs w/o a leash and think it's ok. It irritated me to no end when I would walk my dog. And their dogs were NOT good off-leash walkers. They would run over 20 feet away, and the owner would either not care or call them back casually.

"Fed up with reports of dogs biting people, police have already started giving tickets to those with roaming dogs. If that doesn't convince citizens to keep their dogs on leashes, Chief Larry Elarton said he will ask city council to impose an emergency law allowing officers to shoot to kill."

Shoot to kill the owner? :P It's sad that the dog gets the repercussions of a bad owner.
