Dog flu...brace yourself...Is an Airborne virus. I am not sure how long it can live outside of the body, but it only takes one to get the flu started. I figure that Missy got the virus at the Vet, of maybe from just going out to go potty ( there are many dogs in this neighborhood). She was the initial infection in my house. A dog that is infected with the virus also goes for several days shedding the virus before they show any symptoms. So...when i saw Missy come down with it, I just prepared for the possibility that Cleo was sick also. Essentially Cleo was probably already infected by the time Missy showed signs.

Yea its here too but- the vaccine only covers one strain of many. Its easy to avoid. Just do not let your dog touch nose with anothers dog- typical in shows we dont allow it either it. If you go in places the dog might touch noses, give vitamin C to off set it.

Critter has an appointment tomorro I'll try to remember to ask my vet about it...I seem to always have questions and then get there and draw a blank...I think I'll have to make a list.

Thanks SH

I have to phone my vet to update her on my rabbit (I hate phone calls, and I hate bugging her....though) so I'm going to ask about immunizing him against the flu. We are ALWAYS around other dogs-it's not like he's an asocial homebody.
As much as I feel unnecessary immunizations are just that-well its better then the sickness they prevent
I'll let you know if we get Mikey his jab soon
