Default 10 year old boy killed by "wild"(stray) dogs.

Sympatico.ca Video - Dogs kill Sask. First Nation boy: relatives

So, this 10 year old kid in Saskatchewan got 'mauled' by what they say are wild dogs in a reserve..

It is a shame, and my heart goes out to the family, but i find that there would be less dogs at this place.. if people didnt go out getting dogs and not really spending they needed attention they should have, and recklessly breeding them and not getting the fixed
And also not just letting a dog go, if they dont want it anymore... shame real big shame

Just my point of view.. what about you guys ?

I know what i am saying is vague.. and little to do on the subject of the kid getting killed.. but i feel more for the dogs to be honest.

That's awful and yes I agree I feel horrible for dogs being dumped off and just left to fend for themselves. It's disgusting how many animals have to be euthanized each year due to over population and ignorant people. Although to say you feel worse for the dogs than the kid doesn't make sense. This was a kid that just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and now he is gone...
It's just a bad situation all around. Unfortunately the world is full of bad things happening every second to humans and animals. I feel for them all. No one deserves pain, suffering, or abuse. I'm one of those people that can barely tolerate watching the news without getting teary eyed.
May I ask what you reasoning is for feeling worse for the dogs than this poor innocent boy?

Yes i do agree that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but think about it...

there were probably houses, and people around who Could of helped or have done something, his family has reported he had tried to get away... they do not say if they were there or not. but still that must have meant SOMEONE had seen it, yet they hadnt done anything ?

The dogs, people have left, to starve, dumped off to fend for themselves... it wouldnt have happened at all, if people actually got animals they knew they could care for... This does seem to happen in reserves, and im not trying to point any fingers. But it just is unfair, to the dogs that they have to go attack humans because they are hungry or something.

On top of that, you never know, the fingers are always pointed at the dogs, the kid for for who knows what, could have been bugging these dogs, again not pointing fingers, it is a theory but it can be possible.

As i had said, i feel sympathy for the kid, and the family. But again for the following reasons this could have been prevented.

By not dumping off dogs just because a problem arises, or some other reason.

Ah I was going to say I'm quite close to there but you are too.

Here the reserves don't go get dogs-they are often dumped on reserves. The people feed them as best they can but they don't fix them, and they run in pseudo packs.

There are literally hundreds of shelters who simply go to reserves trap and fix dogs and adopt the ones they can, returning the dogs who aren't 'adoptable'

IMO This is not a simple fix. And it's controversial-it has more to do with the reserve, the culture of the people on and their situation then lazy or poor dog ownership. When you don't have running water you aren't exactly thinking about fixing your dog.

And I have to disagree with the implication that someone must have seen and not done anything-reserves are huge-this could have happened in a rural area far from people or the people may have been imbibing. Just a few years ago a kid froze to death going from grandma's to dads house on a res-their large and they just aren't suburban homes with all the modern comforts and educated people who are neighborly-it's a different world-a totally different world.

I hate that there are reserved dogs-I wish they had homes and were fed and vetted and fixed. But the whole reserve thing is a huge issue-thats well-I won't touch that with a ten foot pole -it's complicated.

And I agree-the dogs were either starved or provoked in some way-even feral dogs are domesticated dogs and just aren't savage killers.
