Remembering Maddie

Remembering Maddie
**PLEASE READ**

Poor Maddie was diagnosed with Parvo Monday by the local vet as I
presumed after noticed early symptoms of vomiting, refusing to eat, and
drink. My mom is the one who lent me the money in the first place to carry
her to the vet due to my husband still hasn't got paid yet from his new
job. The vet gave me an IV to give her 3 times a day, roughly every eight
hours to keep her hydrated. It is no easy task to take care of a dog
with Parvo, there is vomiting and bloody watery stool, but I cleaned
her up and wiped the vomit from her little mouth. Things I thought were
looking better, but it turned out opposite. She lost alot of weight
and was just so weak and fragile it broke my heart. I remember a few
nights ago, even though in pain she would wobble into my husband and
I's bedroom and want up on the bed with us...just to be with us, the
people that loved her.

Yesterday, my husband and I went to a family get together at his
Grandma's house to celebrate their Thanksgiving and then we
went to see his Dad who has been in ICU in the hospital for 3
months now. When we got home, I discovered I left the bathroom
door open where I had been keeping her and she had left the
bathroom. We found her laying down on her side in the living room
and she wasn't even able to pick her head up and look at us and
was as limp as a dish rag and couldn't stand up. It was a horrible
night of pain for her,she became delirious also barking madly all
night at nothing due to she was suffering. We didn't think she would
survive the night, but she did.

When I got back from church this morning around 12:20 or so,
I discovered her pain and suffering had stopped and she went to
doggy heaven. I feel like my heart is going to burst now.

Maddie made me so extremely happy the time I was able to
spend with her while she was on this earth. I was in her life
from the moment Missy (her Dam) first gave birth to her.
You couldn't ask for a better dog, she LOVED everyone,
even strangers and brought a smile to their face. She
really loved going to the park for walks and chasing the
leaves as they blew and enjoyed bringing pine cones all
the way home in her mouth for Daddy. She was also
so beautiful.

Please pray for my husband and especially I as we grieve
over our baby who we was so attatched to, she was like
a child to us.

Im so so sorry STG, I know how much you loved Maddie and she would have known that too. How old was she? I thought she would have been fully vaccinated by now or is she younger than I though. Parvo is a terrible desease that I wouldnt wish on any dog. Its really sad knowing she suffered through all this

Hate to say but you wont be able to have any new pup on your property for a year, thats how contagious this is. I know you wouldnt want to get another dog just yet, but if you do in the future it may just pay to rent alsewhere.

Hugs to you and hubby. Look after yourself and your unborn baby.

Loss of 3 dogs

In the last 2 years I have lost 3 dogs. My sweet Minnie Schnauzer died of cancer at age 11. We paid $650 to save her and she died the next year. The cancer had spread. That was in 2006 My sweet Peaches a poodle mix was 16 was blind and had 2 teeth. She had sists too and she was just too sick. We lost her last June, 2008. My sweet KC Chief died in Nov 2008. He had kidney failure and they pulled 3 teeth and he never stopped bleeding from his mouth. My vet of 25 years tried to save him but nothing worked. All three are creamated and will burried with us when we die. It is such a heartache to loose our best friends.
