You can not pass on a dog that attacked another dog. Maybe the cocker could have been saved if seen a vet that night- but we will never know. Let the rescue see if they can help but be prepared- they may not take the dog in unless in their investigation they can find you were negelant in someway. I know that sounds tough- but thats the truth.

And watch it- if you are giving her away for free, around here people get those dogs and use them for bait dogs to train dog fighting dogs.. I am totally serious!

I know this is cruel to say because he is not here anymore to defend himself but my Cocker Spaniel who has been Alpha dog for 10 years attacked her first. She was the perfect dog until she got attacked. He would not let her eat, would not let her play ball. I think she just snapped. I know I'm making excuses for her behavior but if the Alpha dog would have been biger he may would have killed the GSD. How can I be found negelant? What have I done?

I had shepherds for 25 years and also helped rescue and foster- unless they could see you ignored the warning signals, they wont take your dog. The reason is liability.= You need to get a certified trainer or behaviorist and keep your dog.

you are the HUMAN they are animals. If your child did this you as the parent would be responsible. The dogs actions are ultimately morally and legally your can of worms to open. Blaming a dog that doesn't have the thought process of a five year old is just... wow.

If they were fighting you needed to hire a trainer, separate them or rehome one or more. You as the owner are ultimately responsible because you put them together repeatedly when the dogs were screaming that they were uncomfortable.

I suggest you re read this after you are done grieving and your judgement is not clouded.

no rescue will take your dog...you need to privately rehome him (still not very legal) euth him, or commit to him and keep him

good luck. Iam out.
