What is the best tick prevention for dogs? Besides Frontline!!

I recently found out that Frontline Plus (and all Frontlines) goes into the dogs bloodstream.......
When i gave it to Cassy this month, the next day all she did was sleep, and be not herself. But the next day, she was her happy self again.

I feel really bad that i did that to her......

I want to change it. No more Frontline!! So what is the best tick prevention for dogs, that does not go into their bloodstream??

Thanks!!

If she was fine the next day I would stick to the frontline, Anything you put on the skin will absorb into it. There have been many bad side effects to advantage so I would not touch it. Flea and tick collars are toxic. If you live in an area with ticks the diseases the dogs can get are very serious so stick with the front line if its working.

Where did you hear this? It actually is not absorbed into the bloodstream but is distributed through the skin and oil glands...

I'm largely a Revolution supporter, however it too is absorbed systemically through the bloodstream. That being said, I've rarely heard of it causing lethargy in many dogs. I actually hear more complaints about use on cats than on dogs.

In case you're still suspicious Cassy, here's the website and explanation on how Frontline works: FRONTLINE | Products | How FRONTLINE works

Revolution must be systemically absorbed since it also is a heartworm preventative...

The tick diseases are so terrible and can go unnoticed then cause deadly problems. As much as I too hate to put stuff on my dogs, I've learned the hard way, that in this case the preventative is much less bad than the disease.
So I'm not fooling around with herbal stuff or garlic, etc.

My 2 cents anyway

Okay, . I feel a bit better. I read it when i was doing one of those crazy computer searches.....and i sort of read something on here about it going into the bloodstream, and that got me on that crazy search. Maybe i should stop doing those crazy searches....

I really don't want her to have that stuff on her, but i guess it's better to be safe then sorry.

I live in a wooded area, i find dead ticks on her from the Frontline. Or ticks crawling on her hair.

But how do you know for sure? What if they are lying just to sell their product? Yes, i'm still a bit suspicious. But, better safe then sorry, right? Even though it might be hurting them?

As Tess said, the tick diseases are sooooo much worse. Trust me. Especially if she's never had a problem with the Frontline before and the product you buy is legitimate (from a reputable seller-- there are products sold online that are NOT legit products but look EXACTLY the same and those tend to cause the problems).

Yes, someone else said it on here and I replied to that saying it wasn't true. This is why you're not supposed to bathe them for a few days before or after so it gets absorbed into the skin/oils.
