Reaction to old decaying bone??

Hello!

My 1 year old 45 lbs mixed breed dog, found a bone in my parents yard the 2 days ago. It has to be at least a year old & from my family dog that passed away last November. Apparently my parents didn't get a good look at it or just thought it was dirty, but it was actually blackish brown and almost looked like it was decaying/rotten. Not sure if it was the marrow or the bone itself... I have a picture, but would rather spare you all from seeing it. Not pretty.
Nonetheless, Stella has had diarrhea since the morning after she found the bone. I'm assuming that bone did not agree with her system, I'm just hoping feeding her boiled chicken and rice for a couple of days will improve things & get her back to normal. Other than the diarrhea she acts normal. Maybe a little on the tired side, but we're keeping multiple bowls of water available to her to prevent dehydration.
Does anyone have any pointers? I'm just wondering if I should take her to the vet or wait it out to see if she improves by tomorrow. The poor thing was diagnosed with coccidia 2 weeks ago, so I'd rather spare her another traumatizing trip to the vet if I can avoid it.

Thank you all!
Nicole

I would be more concerned about your dog possibly getting more bones if the dog was not buried deep enough.....

If your dog is not acting well get her to the vet

i think that this calls for a trip to the vet... at least a call in, and a stool sample, that will not traumatize her...

good luck, and keep us posted on her

Thank you all for your responses! I called in to the vet yesterday & they recommended a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice. Gave her that last night & today her poop was still runny & bright yellow with a little bit of mucus. Besides the color that is what it looked like before she was diagnosed with coccidia. I brought her to the vet today to be on the safe side & they're doing a fecal test, but I have to wait a couple of days for the results... She prescribed some special bland food & a pill to help her intestines calm down a bit.
I showed the vet a picture of the inside of the bone & she didn't seem too concerned. So nowwe play the waiting game to see what the deal is! I'll be sure to keep you all posted!

After waiting one whole week for her test results, Stella tested positive for roundworms! Not really what I was expecting & probably doesn't have anything to do with that bone, but at least we have an explanation for the diarrhea. Hopefully she is better soon!

Thank you all!

Actually it may have a lot to do with the decaying bone...think of what happens to those under ground... just my assumption I am not 100% positive tho, did you ask your vet?
