pregnant otter hound temperature

Hi, I'm new to this forum but I need some help.

I took in a stray Otter hound around Christmas time. We were waiting for permission from the dog warden to get her spayed only to discover last week that she is heavily pregnant (secretly I was delighted). I started taking her temperature the other day, only to find that it is consistently 37.5c. I have read in other places on the internet that one of the major signs of imminent labour is a drop in temperature to around 37.5c. she's been at this temperature for 3 days now (the first time I took her temp it was 38.0c), and no sign of pups as yet. Should I be worried about this?

Many thanks for your (future) help.

P.s. please excuse my disjointed way of writing, I haven't had much sleep recently

I'm not sure about the temperature I'll ask and write you back....BUT you better see a vet for general care not only the temp! If you have already gone to a vet what did he/she said?

The temperature seems ok but there are many things to keep an eye on. See if you can have a vet available at any time (even if it is through phone) and ask him about anything you see and are worried about.

I'd say that if the temperature drops that is your signal. Some animals-like people-run a little cooler or a little warmer then others. So if she's been there for three days, just keep an eye on the temp for a dorp from that.

37.5 is not hypothermic but within the range so I think it's fine she's at that temp; you may or may not see a drop when it's 'time'

Just looked up some resources for you-also see if your vet will give you his/her cellphone in case is 4 am on a Sunday when she delivers and you need help. Don't count on being able to get to the emergency room, and don't count on everything going well. It will probably go fine, but just in case see if you can get emergency contact vet info
