Again I am so sorry..Unfortunately some people breed for the money and not health. A dog can be more prone to cancer due to genetics. If she decides to get another Rott..have her really check the breeder out and make sure the dogs have some certifications. That way at least you can tell the breeder cares about their dog and not just the money.

she did she got him from the same breed she got her female from and she knows the breeder and they did all that to make sure they were all healthy. I know cancer is the number 1 cause of death in Rottweilers and it just makes me wonder if my rottie is going to inherrite from her daddy her mommy is healthy as an ox its just one of those things that happens thats all. It sux that he has to get put to sleep but thats the most humane thing to do instead of letting him suffer the cancer is in his intestines. and the vet cant do anything for him but to humanely put him to sleep :( i will miss him just as much as every one else

From all the other posts it doesn't sound like this dog came from a reputable breeder. If in fact the male did, she should inform the breeder of his having cancer and what kind.

Also i have never heard that the #1 cause of death in Rotts is cancer...can you provide that link here?

Your pup did not come from a reputable breeder so you should definitely do regular check ups on your pup and have any lumps/changes in weight checked out to be safe.

Best thing you can do is to keep up on your dog's vet visits and testing if you're worried. What time of cancer did your sister's dog have?

Routine blood work and examinations may help. You may also consider abdominal utrasounds and chest x-rays to monitor him for disease.
