Hi. I have a rottweiler named Roo who is nine years old. Recently she started having blood in her snot when she would sneeze. The vet told us it was probably an infection so we gave her antibiotics, and it stopped the sneeze bleeding initially. When the antibiotics ran out yesterday, she started having massive nose bleeds. My family and I were up all last night trying to control it. She bleeds, stops for about an hour, bleeds some more. She's at the vet as I'm typing this and they are x-raying her to determine if it's still an infection or if it's, more seriously, cancer in her sinuses.
We have other family members who might be able to help pay for if she needs surgery...but can tumors on the sinuses even be removed?
I'm sorry I don't have any advice...
I just wanted to let you know that I'll be thinking of you and Roo.
I'm hoping for the best!
Let us know what the vet says!
First, THANK YOU for following up with vet care. Anything is possible, just don't get discouraged until you have a final diagnosis. Our Chloe just has sinus surgery to remove a boney mass like structure in her sinuses. Also, on smoosh face dogs (pugs, peeks...) it isn't uncommon for them to have sinus surgery. I will send good thoughts your way.
she has a tumor so large in her sinuses its ruining the bones in her snout. theres nothing they can do and she has to be put down this afternoon. Look up roo under rottweiler profiles to see my favourite picture of her.
That is very sad news . Cyber-hugs from the UK. Have looked at your picture of Roo - what a lovely looking dog - I can see how Roo's going to be sorely missed. RIP.
I'm very sorry to hear about your Roo. At least, you've done what you could to limit her suffering. I'm sure it will be a rough while, but remember good times and how much she was loved.
