Hair loss at the base of tail and on her shoulder.

Was just bathing frey and harvey as we are off to a show tomorrow morning, as i was drying frey off i noticed that she had quite a bit of hair loss at the bass of her tail that goes a little way up her tail and also on her shoulder. Its not noticable unless you really look. I was just wondering what could cause this? She is up to date on her flea treatment and had a 6 month health check a week and a day ago and nothing concerned the vet other than her anal glands that had to be emptied.

How old is your dog? What breed is she?
Is she at all overweight?
How is her energy level?
Has she had her thyroid level checked lately?

She is 3 and a half, she is a whippet collie cross, she has medium length hair. She is a high energy dog, at her vet check the vet said her weight was pretty much perfect. She has never had her thyriod checked before

what is the weather like where you live. I would have a vet check it out. Extreme temperature can effect this also

Its tempermental, one day hot and sunny the next hammering it down, here is a pic of the hair loss on her tail. You cant really see it on her shoulder. I only noticed as i was drying her because i brushed her heckles back, they cover it.

It would be worthwhile getting her blood tested for leishmaniosis, this can appear, although rarely, in the UK and if she has travelled in Europe or the mediterranean is a lot more prevalent

I think it could also possibly be some sort of a hormonal problem.
