Gypsy

The princess has just had to have a bath , she was covered (well all three of them were) in the foulest smelling muck when my OH brought them back from their walk
I've yet to bath the other two ... but I wanted to get madam done cos she's booked in to be spayed tomorrow
I have to admit im gonna be worried sick until I get the phone call telling me to pick her up
My OH said I should feed her small amounts of chicken and rice 3 - 4 times a day for a couple of days after the op and keep her crated , is this right ?
she normally sleeps upstairs , Im guessing she shouldnt be running up and down stairs for a while , so I was thinking of setting up her crate in the hall
what about walks ? and the boys , how soon can I let them around her seeing as they always want to play ?
sorry for all the questions but I just want to make sure my sweetie gets everything she needs

I would keep her strictly crated for the first few days after only on leash to go to b-room and back in, or if you have a smaller room where she can be confined and be comfortable. by the end of the week you can start doing small walks and by the end of the 2nd week she should be fine for full activity. I know with a border collie it might be hard to keep her quiet, you might want to not give her too much pain medication as if she isn't in much pain she might be way too active, though I know that sounds awful probably.

Well she had the op & there werent any problems
she got some loves from the staff cos apparently she was crying at one point , but they said she soon settled after getting a hug
she's had a wee and a poo in the garden and eaten a little chicken and rice and had a drink ... and even though we havent had a crate down for months , she went straight to the one id put up for her and settled down in it , she had a growl at the boys when they went near it so they are leaving her alone , the boss lady has spoken , lol

Im so glad to have her home

That's great news! I'm glad she did fine!! Just make sure to keep the boys from teasing her for about a week.

good to see even in her post-spay state (during recovery), she can still be queen of your dogs

She's back to normal now , and boy is she letting me know she isnt happy with this 'short lead plod walk' that she's getting ... I tried giving her a longer lead and she started running around , so back on a short lead she went
Of all my dogs , she's the one who loves to run , so I feel really mean holding her back , even though I know its for the best

ah well , she goes back to the vets monday for her check-up (should of been today but my OH is working) so i'll talk to him about how she's doing and when I can allow her to run around like a lunatic with the other two again , lol

That's great Mese! It's just amazing how dogs come back so strong from something that would have kept us down for weeks!
