Question growth on my dogs tail,,english bull terrier

my dog developed a baked bean size growth near to the end of his tail.at first i thought it was a tick, but then realised it wasnt.it grew to double the size within a couple of weeks.when i tryed to put some soothing antiseptic cream on it he would be in a little pain.so it must of been causing some discomfort.it now is the size of a cherry.it looks like a reddy brown growth .it has got cracks on it ,,this is due to when he wags his tail ,he is banging it off things making it bleed.he has been to the vets who has said leave it alone..and thinks it will go itself.as he is just over 2 years old,,it should go.today he banged it of the door frame as he wagged his tail on greeting my husband.the blood was everywere.a spray of blood alover the walls ,doors, cupboards ,floor,,etc.what is making me worried is that she never did a blood test or test on it.just gave him antibiotics..am i doing the right thing by waiting or do i take him back.she said he wasnt in any pain ,but he feels it when i dab the blood off it with a tissue..and im being gentle.

Um you need to go to a different vet and show him this post pretty much. A growth should never be left alone especially if its growing so plz plz get your dog to another vet soon

i agree with the above... this doesn't seem like something that should be ignored... did your vet offer any explanation as to what was causing the growth? personally, if my vet says "leave it alone, let it heal on it's own" i expect that he knows what it is first, if that makes sense... so yeah, i would take him to a different vet... please keep us posted on how he is doing

the vet said it was tumour but some tumours go away.some dont.she didnt do any tests to see if it was a bad tumour or not.i was concerned at the rate it has grown ..from a bean to a cherry in a fewv weeks.

It could indeed be a benign tumor or a cyst like your vet originally thought.

However, I have learned to go with my gut instinct when it comes to my animals. So if you are concerned, then perhaps take your dog into the vet again, or like said earlier, get a second opinion.

*fingers crossed* that it it is a benign tumor or a cyst.
Please keep us updated!

Please take your dog to a different vet as soon as possible. It may go away, but as it has doubled within a couple of weeks and bleeds frequently,it is not a good sign!Your vet really should have done tests on it to see whether it was malignant or benign.Hopefully this link helps a little. Also a picture would be good to see too,it might help us a bit..
