fleas

Im posting from my phone so I will try to keep it short but detailed. Please do ask questions if I didn't cover it. I do need help .

I usually don't have any flea problems my cat is even doing completely fine..however my poor little toy poodle can't seem to keep them off her.

We normally use advantage but after missing one dose she got them BAD.

We were moving to an area known for being bad with mosquitoes so this time 2 days after a flea bath I gave her k9 advantix. 2 weeks later she got them again. I gave her another dose thinking maybe the rain caused it to wash out but now its not even been a week and she has them again!

I will be speaking to a bayer representative tomorrow about a refund but I would like to know of good flea meds that take care of mosquitoes too.

With regards to the fleas, how have you been cleaning the house?

The environment is a big deal when trying to get rid of fleas. After dosing the pets did you spray the yard? Did you thoroughly clean all the fabric in the house with hot water and either clean the sofas or spray them down? Did you add a flea collar to the vacuum canister and empty it outside after every use?

Have you looked into food grade Diatomaceous Earth? I haven't used it myself but a lot of folks like it because it is natural, non-toxic, and not expensive.

Frontline works for us, although we don't really live in a bad flea area. Ticks are the main concern here. Our dogs don't get either fleas or ticks while on frontline. Our cats are not on anything, and they still don't get fleas, but do get an occasional tick.

My cat isn't on anything either which in all honesty is why I don't believe we have an infestation in the house.

We had just moved into this house last month and set off bug bombs.

We use this stuff called seven on the yard but I also walk bella daily so doesn't mean my yard is where she picked them up

In other words the house where she had the first infestation we don't live in anymore. She got the 2nd infestation in a house where yard and home were treated before moving in.

Her old bed was thrown away as was all our old furniture. New house we wanted new things.

I will be picking up flea powder Friday when I go to work for an added boost in protection for the carpet.

I don't know what kind of bug bombs you used, but I would make sure you get sprays and foggers for fleas specifically and treat the whole house again and repeat. Treat your dog with a flea product and get him out of the house while the fogger clears. I would be cautious about re-dosing a dog with the spot-ons before 28 days lapse. Rather, I would use a flea bath or dip that can be washed off if fleas reappear. Good luck! Fleas definitely have that yuck factor.

We have too many pets to be able to use a fogger again . 3 aquariums a cat and a dog.

We are treating our yard again I just talked to mom about it she agrees that would be a good move.

I just called bayer and explained everything they don't believe I have an infestation in my home. They wanted me to apply the product again since I did give her a bath. I refused saying I don't trust it now since she got them after I applied the dose.

So now they're sending me free advantage.

I also want to point out mainly why I don't believe I have a home infestation is because my cat doesn't have any protection at all. She's a full time indoor cat and doesn't have a single bug on her. I'm not seeing fleas anywhere else but on belle.

I'd keep up with vacuuming the house and using a flea killer in there so that you don't end up with a flea infestation in the house.

Try a different flea killer in and around the yard since it sounds like that's where they are coming from. Try to find one that interrupts the fleas life cycle if you can, and then reapply the treatment every week for at least a month to kill the fleas that are hatching.
