Question Dry paw pads

Just a question. Mikey has dry paw pads-they aren't bleeding and no indication they are sore. Hes had two physicals since we brought him home six months ago but to be honest I can't remember her checking his pads...

At any rate-this isn't an emergency. My vet is off until next week I believe (like I know she's off but I think she's back in Monday) and like I said-it's bothering me not him

I have a 'thing' about dry skin and when he touches me with his pads (high five and shake) it's icky

So I looked up products you can use. And I want to know what you've used and/or if one isn't ok.

I've read that vaseline, hand lotion in a pinch, and bag balm (it's for cow udders) are good to use. Thoughts?

I'm wondering about preperation H (hem cream ) -we use that on rabbit's sore hocks-so I have some in my first aid kit. Rabbits are generally more senstive then dogs-and definitely have a more senstive GI tract-so my thoughts are this would be a safe thing to use. On effectiveness-while women who don't seem to age use this on their face (I can't bring myself to do so lol) so it's an intense moisturizer....what do you guys think about prep h?

For tonight I'm going to use a sensitive skin moisturizer (for people) on one paw and see how that goes. But I'd love more thoughts on the issue

my first thought would be to use vaseline.

PH will shrink any blood vessels there. We use it on animals that have prolapses. Works like a charm. I can't imagine it moisturizing much tho...except that its really greasy.

I have heard that the 'ageless" women are using vaseline on their faces

prep H and umn....well...saw it on oprah http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...8141002AARBfe4

Awwwwkward...

Yeah-I'm thinking I'm just going to try the bag balm (udder butter) lol
But his dry paws bug me and now that I'm reading they could turn into painful things-well I'm really set on doing something
And I guess my main concern is putting something on that he licks off-well that's fine as long as it's totally non toxic. So I think udder butter may be the way to go?

prep h for prolapsed what? Uterus?? *confused*

Bag balm would be my first choice but I'd have to call someone to see if he would be ok if he licked it off.
