Dog licking anus

Hello all - My dog has recently started licking her anus a lot, she is a medium size cross spaniel/lab, 2 years old. Her glands are fine, no smell, her poos are solid and theres not been a change in her diet, she does like eating allsorts when she's out on a walk, deer/fox poo etc. She has been wormed today but theres been no sign of worms in her poo.
I maybe just being a worry wart but has anyone any suggestions, its just out of her normal behaviour to lick her anus lots.
Any help appreciated.

Not all worms can be seen. Most parasites are just oocysts (microscopic eggs) in the stool. Maybe get a fecal test run at your vet, just to rule-out parasites? Parasites are highly likely if she eats stool of other animals, espcially wild animals. Also, "worming" doesn't cover all worms. Different parasites require different medication. A fecal exam would ID the parasite, and the right drug could be given. Not all parasitic drugs are available OTC. Fecal exams are usually relatively cheap, and if you have a good relationship with your vet, they may let you just drop off a stool sample without having to bring the dog in for an office exam. If it comes back positive..you may have to bring your dog in then.

Did you have her glands checked by a vet? Or do you know how? They don't need to smell to be a problem, they could be partially blocked. The only way to know is to put a gloved lubed finger carefully you-know-where and check for swelling/pain.

Excellent advice by Danigurrl.

(Sounds like an anal gland issue to me).

great advice Danigurrl
I'm not sure if this is possible, but could it be an irritation? Like a flea or tick bite? and she might be licking it to sooth the itching?

Hello all - Thank you for your replies, i'll keep an eye on her today, she does seem to have slowed down in licking but thank you Danigurrl, i'll get her off to the vets tomorrow if theres no change, i've checked her glands (oooh what a lovely thing to do !) - and they seem fine, but the vet will be able to double check. Meeka, i've taken a look for flea/tick bites but theres no redness at all in her back area, i thought of a tick yesterday and checked all her behind area - but as ever will keep an eye on her and get her to the vet tomorrow just to make sure !
