have you considered just visiting your local shelter to see who might need you? i know that it is a really quick move after you recent loss, but for some, the grieving process is made easier when they have a new dog that needs them, and there are plenty of dogs in need at a shelter...

Yes we have considered adopting. Apparently our family is about to get FURRIED(Husband wants Ferrets, Daughters want Chinchillas & Guinea Pigs, Sons want Hedgehogs. I want Cats & Rabbits).

We consider adopting but we also considered buying from a Breeder. IF we decide to go for a breeder, we already have a list of questions to ask them and plan to do a home visit.

ah... definitely look around... i would wait on the small animals until after you've moved and figured out what your resources are, the little guys tend to stress out pretty easily... you also may want to think on the ferret if you are going to get chinchillas, rabbits and guinea pigs, they are all potential meals for a ferret... tho, with proper management, it can be done...

sounds like you are going to have a zoo!

I ditto everything Fawkese said. Please please please adopt, especially ferrets. I run a ferret rescue and NEVER can find them homes bc people want the young kits at the pet shops. I also have a dog nobody would adopt from us even tho he was a puppy but he wasnt PB its unfortunate. Also moves are uber stressful on ferrets so definitely wait and make sure to do your research, we spend way more money on our fuzzies (bunnies and ferrets) than we do our dogs and cats.
