Bulbous hocks?

My basset hound/black lab mix, 9 years old, female, has developed bulbous enlargements at the back of BOTH of her hocks (they almost look like testicles, haha). They are hairless and reddish. She is not limping and has no trouble navigating the steps of our home. Since it is bilateral, and she is showing no distress, I'm less inclined to think this is the result of an injury. We have an appointment set up with the veterinarian in town for Friday. Any preliminary thoughts would be gratefully appreciated.

I've searched throughout the internet and it keeps coming up with swollen hock syndrome, but she shows none of the other symptoms, and the photos do not look like what she has. The entire hock itself isn't swollen, just the back of it, like fleshy golf balls are attached.

The vet said they are "hygromas". Seems they form when the dog has to lie on hard surfaces. We have hardwood flooring but she has a nice foam bed and she's constantly on the couch sleeping. Do I need to carpet the place now, just for her, hahahhhaha! Poor thing! At least it's nothing serious. Whew!!

wow... that is interesting... maybe you'll just have to get a few more doggy beds for her to help her out...

thank you for the update...
