OK... On Wednesday evening, my son ate some Buffalo wings and left the bones in a bowl on his desk when he went to take a shower. The dog ate them! He is a pretty big dog, about 70 pounds. The wings were fairly small ones and there were about 6 bones. All were the upper part of the wing with the single bone (not the lower part that has two thinner bones).
I have been feeding him bread with canned dog food instead of his hard food to help move things through his system. He is eating well and has no signs of discomfort. His behavior and energy level are unchanged. No distension of his stomach and he has pooped 4 times since Wednesday night.
There is no blood in his poop and I have checked it, but have not found any bones in it. If he shows any signs of discomfort or anything else out of the ordinary, I will bring him to the Vet immediately.
Is it possible that the bones dissolved in his system? Seems that they should have worked their way through between Wednesday evening and now. How long does it take things to move through a dog's system?
Thanks!
