Braces for CCL tears

Hi dog lovers. I am desperately seeking input on a kneebrace for my 85 lb Rottie/Lab. One knee has been unjured for several years, and the other knee has recently suffered a torn cranial cruciate ligament also. I have opted out of the surgery for a number of reasons.

We are going the holistic route, and she is on "Conservative Management" rest and all sorts of appropriate supplements and natural inflammatories.

Research has pointed me towards the bilateral Woundwear A-trac knee brace. Most of the comments i have read are very positive, however I do read some that are VERY negative, and these are making me apprehensive about ordering.

Has anyone here had any experience (good or bad) with any of the canine knee braces?

Interesting. I've never heard of knee braces for dogs! I'll have to look that up.

Don't know how anything will make her more comfortable with having 2 bad knees. Have you tried swimming therapy with your dog? I would sure build up the muscles too. Keep your dog on the lighter side and you may want to add vit. C to the diet. Vit. C is excellent for tissue repair.

Well, it was all news to me too. First time I also heard of CCL tear (cranial cruciate ligament). And yes there are many companies making braces etc for dogs...wish i had known sooner.

Apparently CCL tears are rather common. There are several approaches: surgery or Rest, with lots of supplements (Glucosamine/Chondroitin, Fish Omega3 Oils, Vitamin E etc). Vaximine (boswellia root) is a natural product that is apparently great for pain, used for horses and humans too!
